Maintenance, Crosscutting and Felling of Trees up to 380mm diameter Unit 201, 202 and 203 – City & Guilds (NPTC)
Candidates will learn the skill of Saw Maintenance, Crosscutting and felling small trees with the highest safety techniques

- Hazard Identification Risk Assessment
- Health and Safety Legislation & PPE
- Maintenance of a Chainsaw
- Crosscutting under tension and Compression
- Fell and Process Trees up to 380mm
- Remove branches from felled trees safely
- Take down hung-up trees
Advanced Chainsaw Courses
Advanced – Felling of Trees over 380mm Unit 301 – City & Guilds (NPTC)
Candidates will learn the skill of dealing with medium and large trees with the highest safety techniques
This is an advanced level course *Prerequisite courses are – units 201, 202, 203 – Successful completion of Basic Chainsaw Units

- Hazard Identification Risk Assessment
- Top & bottom sync cut
- Side bore cut
- Front bore cut
- Technique of using wedges
- 6 Lever snedding movement
- Crosscutting under tension and compression
- Operating harvesting winch
Advanced – Severing of uprooted or Windblown Trees Unit 302 – City & Guilds (NPTC)
Candidates will learn the skill of dealing with individual and multiple Windblown trees with the highest safety techniques
This is an advanced level course *Prerequisite course are: – units 201,202,203,301 – Successful completion of Basic Chainsaw Units and felling of trees over 380mm

- Site Specific Hazard Identification Risk Assessment
- Health and Safety Legislation & PPE
- Identify correct cut
- Severing root plates
- Taking down hung up trees
- Holding cut
- Snedding and Crosscutting
Advanced- Emergency Tree Work Operations Unit 305 – City & Guilds (NPTC)
Candidates will learn the skill of dealing with a blown tree, partially blocking roadways and public areas with emphasis on Health and Safety techniques
This is an advanced level course *Prerequisite courses are – units 201, 202, 203 – Successful completion of Basic Chainsaw Units
