PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) Training
Since 1st June 2018 the Health & Safety Authority only recognise the PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) Training as meeting the needs of Occupational First Aid in all workplaces in Ireland. FRS Training are a Recognised Institution with PHECC. The FAR course is offered over a three day period with a max attendance of 8.
Programme Content:
- Patient Assessment
- Incident Procedures
- Cardiac First Response (CPR & AED, Choking & Stroke)
- Common Medical Emergencies (Asthma, Diabetes, Seizures, Poisoning & Fainting)
- Injury Management & Shock (Bleeding, Bone Injuries, Sprains, Strains & Dislocations, Shock)
- Care of the Unconscious Patient
- Burns & Electrical Injury Care
- Hypothermia & Hyperthermia
- Information Management & Communications
- The Well-Being of the First-Aid Responder
Entry Requirements:
There is no specific entry criterion including a minimum age. However, a course participant should be mature enough to comprehend the knowledge, skills and implications associated with defibrillation and have a maturity to complete assessment to receive certification.
Certification:
PHECC provider course certificate and card. Valid for 2 years. Refresher training must be completed prior to the expiry date of a valid certificate and card.
Assessments:
The learner is required to complete – Skills Demonstration and Examination
PHECC First Aid Responder – Refresher
This is a refresher course for previously certified FAR learners. All FAR learners MUST attend a refresher course at least every 2 years to renew their award. The FAR course is offered over a two day period with a max attendance of 8. It important for current FAR practitioners to note, there is no grace period following expiry, the refresher must be completed before current expiry to ensure certification remains valid.
FRS Training Basic First Aid
This course is tailored to teach participants how to administer basic first aid and the procedure to follow in the event of an accident occurring in their work place. Candidates receive an FRS Training certificate upon successful completion.
