Course Title:

Chainsaw Felling up to 380mm

Candidates will learn the skill of Chainsaw maintenance, crosscutting of felled timber and the felling small trees with the highest safety techniques.

Candidate Criteria

Candidates must be over 16 years of age
Candidates should be relatively fit and agile as course is physical
Bring own PPE (chainsaw boots, chainsaw combi helmet, Chainsaw pants, chainsaw gloves). If you are unable to provide PPE we will supply Lend PPE for the duration of the course

Candidates must have previously completed Unit 201 and Unit 202 (maintenance and crosscutting) to sit this module

Course Content

Candidates will
*Identify the Risk Assessment & Emergency procedures on a work site
*Selecting, check and prepare equipment required for safe and effective felling
*undertakes safe and accurate felling and processing small trees up to 380mm in diameter using a variety of felling cuts.
*Fell leaning trees using a safe technique
*Remove branches safely in a manner appropriate to the branching habit
*Cross-cut stems accurately and safely to a given length & diameter specification
*Stack timber using appropriate manual handling techniques
*Take down small hung-up trees safely using appropriate hand tools

Course Notes

All learning material will be provided by FRS Training. You will be registered and certified with City and Guilds through our centre.

Course Comments

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive City and Guilds certification.
